About

Frances Arkle’s love of glass goes back a long way and in glass, she has found an all absorbing passion and discovered her metier as an artist. She is fascinated by the way in which light affects coloured glass and the wonderful reflected patterns that it can produce as well as its precise nature.

Her first practical involvement with glass was as an art student. She has continued studying what can be achieved by incorporating kiln forming techniques into her architectural glass. Her main interest lies in kiln formed glass because of the endless artistic possibilities derived from layering, fusing and moulding.

She shares a studio near her home in London with two other glass artists. Her work varies from glass panels to garden sculpture and jewellery.

Frances won a commendation in the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters, 2009 Stevens Competition.
